The United States has blocked a deal involving the sale of Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft to Iran, the largest in the portfolio of export orders of the Russian company JSC “Sukhoi Civil aircraft”. Reports replyua.net, reported by Forbes. In particular, the office of foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury has not issued an export license for the sale of aircraft, citing sanctions against Tehran, which began in November.
The approval for the deal was necessary because more than 10% of the components of the aircraft – the first civilian airliner created in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union – is of American origin. “On the supply of aircraft now and speeches cannot be” – said the Secretary of the Association of Iranian airlines Maqsood Asadi Samani.
A preliminary agreement to sell Iran a 40 SSJ100 was reached in April. With the help of Russian Airliners Tehran intended to replace the aging Boeing and Airbus, the new supply which is hung in the air because of the sanctions.
